Six August 28ths...

Over 5 years ago, my best friend gifted me with a 5-year journal. Did I complete it all? Did I comply with the one-sentence a day rule of the journal? I can neither confirm nor deny these things, but what I can do is paraphrase what the last 5 years of my life looked like on each August 28...and throw in tonight's as well!

We often look back at the big milestones in our lives and remember the greatness of those moments, but I love how this project made me memorialize the little, day-to-day moments just as much!

So here are six August 28ths in the life of one Tori Francis (1992 - ????):

2013. Last day working at Hellgate Jetboat Excursions for the season! My supervisor brought me a smoothie to celebrate, which still didn't help me get my voice back...

2014. Pretty sure I was sleep-walking the whole day. Needless to say, I was a villain when nominated for the Ice Bucket Challenge. I believe the phrase "Ain't nobody got time for that" entered my mind as my eyes basically closed on me.

2015. Went out to Punky's Diner with my coworkers at the ad agency, which was great! Met with the owner of a great Hawaiian restaurant downtown about catering for our commercial shoots!

2016. Visited an old-fashioned Quaker church in Hawaii in the midst of a torrential downpour. Later in the day, we went snorkeling and had shave ice. That's right - shave ice. Not shaved ice. It's a thing...

2017. After my daily billing/tech support duties, I zipped over to Ashland to pretend to drink coffee for a few hours, just to say I was an "extra in a local production" again!

2018. Hmm...maybe I should write about that five-year journal in my blog today... ;)

Want to try this out yourself? I used The Happiness Project One Sentence Journal by Gretchen Rubin.

Got any seemingly-insignificant memories that bring a smile to your face? Cherish 'em! Here's to another happy 5 years!
